London musician performed a special session for Philips + You Need To Hear This

With the release of his new ‘Petals Have Fallen’ album, London’s DELS has expanded his fusion of hip-hop and skittering production. It’s a record that could dive in any direction at will, all while showcasing new talent like Tirzah and pop newcomer Rosie Lowe.

On ‘Pulls’, he recruits Kerry Leatham to breathe life into a downbeat, sparse production. In a special session for Philips and You Need to Hear This, he brings out a new side of the track by performing it alongside a string quarter in Brunel Museum.

“I’m one step closer to performing with an orchestra,” he says on the performance. The track brings together beats from Bonobo and an additional role from Kwes - “it became a really collaborative piece between the three of us,” he explains.

“Silence is being used a lot in this song. I feel like this one had enough breathing space for other instruments to come into play. I thought it’d be really good to do a performance here.”
