Mumford & Sons top UK Album Chart with ‘Wilder Mind’
Third LP has pipped last week’s number one, Blur’s ‘The Magic Whip’, to the top spot.
Mumford & Sons’ third album ‘Wilder Mind’ has gone straight to the top of the UK’s Official Albums Chart.
The follow-up to million-selling LP ‘Babel’ has shifted 81,300 copies in its first week, according to the Official Chart Company.
It replaces Blur’s ‘The Magic Whip’ at the top spot, with Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Sia completing the top five.
The group are this month’s DIY cover stars, with our ‘Fuck the Banjo’ interview seeing them admit that they did, between these two latest albums, split up. They headline this year’s Reading & Leeds, 28th-30th August.
Django Django’s second album ‘Born Under Saturn’ was another new entry, landing at #15. Elsewhere Palma Violets entered at #25 with ‘Danger in the Club’ and Jamie T’s ‘Carry on the Grudge’ went up 136 places to #26.
In the Official Singles Chart, OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’ took the top spot.
