Flesh aren’t going to please everyone. Let’s get that out of the way. They’re gobby, laddy, extra tongue-in-cheek and shamelessly hopping aboard the Britpop train that disembarked some ten years back. Some people will love it, others will hate it with every fabric of their being. But without bands like Flesh, their velvet-coated guitars and shit sunglasses, the world would be an infinitely more boring place.
Ignoring all of that, new single ‘Not Gna’ is their biggest statement of intent so far. Going way beyond the slightly dubious style choices and potential controversies, it’s a massive, shameless supply of obnoxious indie that backs up the band’s early support slots for Peace and the DMA’s.
Self-produced, an accompanying video is enough to stir opinions to wildly varying opposition stances. Let the vicious love/hate debates commence - Flesh have properly arrived with ‘Not Gna’.
