Listen: The 1975 share ‘The Sound’

The 1975 share ‘The Sound’

The third track from the band’s new album is as sugar-sweet as they’ve ever dared to tread.

The 1975 have offered up a further look at their new album with ‘The Sound’.

Stabs of synthetic strings and a bounding, Prince-aping piano take the fore, forming The 1975’s most overtly modernistic take on pop to date. Oh, and they chuck in a massive, almost cock-rock guitar solo for good measure. It links up with ‘Love Me’ (and its batshit video) and ‘UGH!’ (and that track’s turtleneck loving video) in previewing their new album, the daftly-titled ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’.

That record - their second - is due out on Dirty Hit Records on February 26th. It’s probably going to be massive. Stream ‘The Sound’ below a list of the band’s upcoming UK spring tour dates.
