This evening, Brighton trio Birdskulls will be taking to the stage at Strongroom Bar in East London for Curtain Call, DIY’s new Curtain Road-based endeavour alongside Jägermeister. As part of the first round of proceedings, the band were invited to record a brand new track in the midst of Curtain Road itself and tonight, they’ll be debuting it live for the first time since it was recorded.
Luckily for you, dear readers, we’re offering up a first taste of the very song, ‘Clawing At The Wall’. Recorded at Strongroom Studio with engineer Steph Marziano, the trio’s latest offering channels the ruckus of their debut album ‘Trickle’, while boasting a gruff unhingedness that promises to explode into life during their performance.
Speaking of the new track, the band’s Rory Marshall has said: “You can still hear Birdskulls in it, but we’re progressing. I mean, we recorded the album back in March last year, so since then obviously a lot has happened and we’ve listened to new bands. Plus, you keep listening to the tracks that you feel like you wanna move it in a certain direction and I guess that’s what the new song is. It’s a progression.”
Birdskulls play at Strongroom Bar with Johnny Foreigner and Gang tonight (Tuesday 26th January) as part of the first round of Curtain Call.
