Amazon Prime have announced their three pilots; I Love Dick; Jean-Claude Van Johnson; and The Tick have been picked up to become Amazon Original Series and will debut exclusively next year for Amazon Prime Members in the UK, US, Germany, Austria and Japan.

Executive produced by Transparent’s Jill Soloway, I Love Dick is based on the feminist novel of the same name and follows married couple Chris (Kathryn Hahn) and Sylvere (Griffin Dunne) who arrive in Marfa, Texas where Sylvere is offered a fellowship to finish his book on the Holocaust. There they meet Dick (Kevin Bacon) who challenges their preconceptions about love and monogamy.

Comedy-action series, Jean-Claude Van Johnson stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as the eponymous hero, a martial artist and film star who operates under the alias of “Johnson”, the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world. Jean-Claude Johnson also stars Phylicia Rashad (Creed, The Cosby Show), Kat Foster (Your Family) and Moises Arias (The Middle) and is executive produced by Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker and Peter Atencio.

When he discovers his city is owned by a global super villain long though dead he teams up with superhero The Tick (Peter Serafinowicz) to uncover the conspiracy. Directed by long-term Christopher Nolan collaborator Wally Pfister and written by Supernatural’s Ben Edlund, The Tick is executive produced by Edlund and Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfield and is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television.

Head of Half-Hour Series, Amazon Studios, Joe Lewis said: “These pilots were vast in scope, disruptive in tone, challenging in story and sometimes even funny. It’s rewarding to see customers embrace them in such a huge way. We can’t wait to premiere these series next year on Prime Video.”
