Following a jaw dropping, sci-fi tinged Season One finale, alternate reality thriller The Man in the High Castle returns for a second season on Amazon Prime Video.
To celebrate Amazon held a premiere in London of the first episode of Season Two with star Rupert Evans in attendance and DIY were there to quaff drinks and follow the plentiful canapé trays around the building like starving zombies.
Episode one picks up right after the events of the thrilling finale, Juliana (Alexa Davalos) is being held by the Resistance who now think she’s a Nazi traitor after she aided Joe’s (Luke Kleintank) escape. Also pursued by the Japanese authorities, she finally gets an audience with the Man in the High Castle (Stephen Root) himself, an encounter that may further confuse or enlighten viewers, while Joe is uneasy with his hero status amongst Nazi circles and finds himself Berlin bound and due for a reunion with his high ranking Nazi officer father. Juliana’s boyfriend Frank (Evans) is determined to free his loyal friend Ed (DJ Qualls) - wrongfully imprisoned in Season One - and enlists the help of dodgy art dealer Robert Childan (Brennan Brown), a relationship that adds some much needed lightness to the dark show. Meanwhile Obergruppenführer John Smith (Rufus Sewell) is faced with his greatest challenge when his son’s medical condition sees him disobey orders for the sake of his family.
With an incident packed opener, the signs are good for an equally excellent second season of the award winning adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s book of the same name.
