The Shins debut new song ‘The Fear’ on American radio

They were playing for an episode of ‘A Prairie Home Companion’.

After recently revealing that their new album ‘Heartworms’ would be out on 10th March and announcing tour plans, The Shins popped down to to do a session for Minnesota radio program A Prairie Home Companion, with recording taking place at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre.

Alongside playing new arrangements of old classics ‘Gone For Good’ and ‘Saint Simon’, as well as a rendition of latest single ‘Name For You’, the band also premiered new track ‘The Fear’. It’s a much more downbeat number, with James Mercer sounding particularly mournful about how he’s “run out of love” over sweeping strings and gently strummed guitars.

Listen to ‘The Fear’ below and listen to the whole episode of A Prairie Home Companion here (The Shins perform from around the 52 minute mark).
