Driving force: Dutch Uncles head to the racetrack in ‘Big Balloon’ video

Dutch Uncles head to the racetrack in ‘Big Balloon’ video

The band have a bit of a need for speed in the new clip.

After showing off a few teaser visuals on social media for a couple of weeks, Manchester’s Dutch Uncles have finally revealed the full video to their latest shimmering alt-pop single ‘Big Balloon’.

Directed by Nick Middleton, the clip is a bit of a mini-documentary following the band as they head down to Buxton Raceway to watch some high-octane speedway action. As well as witnessing a couple of races and catching up with both the punters and the drivers, Middleton also captures the sometimes bleak aftermath of the pastime. He shows off a few burnt out husks of old cars and a driver taking out some anger on his vehicle with a sledgehammer (as you do). But although there’s a couple of minor crashes, we’re pretty sure no one was harmed in the making of the video, even if the Uncles pull a couple of concerned faces here and there.

The band’s new album, also titled ‘Big Balloon’, follows 2015’s ‘O Shudder’ and it’s due 17th February via Memphis Industries.
