The solo piano ballad ‘Pops’ is perhaps one of the most emotional and contemplative tracks on Angel Olsen’s latest album ‘MY WOMAN’, so it’s only right that its new video is equally as meditative.
Directed by Angel alongside Jethro Waters, the new clip was shot in Asheville in late 2016, before Autumn turned to Winter. This transitional period provides a bleak cinematic backdrop for the song, where Angel plays the piano, drives through the town at night and wanders around its parks and woods. It manages to capture the way the track borders being beautiful but also kind of messed up, throwing images of gorgeous environments at you, but with the surrounding mist suggesting that all is not quite as it seems.
