Winning score: Mica Levi’s soundtrack for ‘Jackie’ is up for an Oscar

Mica Levi’s soundtrack for ‘Jackie’ is up for an Oscar

The score was also nominated for a BAFTA earlier this month.

If all goes well, Mica Levi might need a bigger mantelpiece soon.

As well as being recently nominated for a BAFTA, her soundtrack for the biopic ‘Jackie’ – all about former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and starring Natalie Portman – is now up for Best Original Score at this year’s Academy Awards.

She’s up against some familiar competition too. Justin Herwitz’s score for ‘La La Land’ and Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka’s work on ‘Lion’ face off against Mica’s soundtrack at both the Oscars and BAFTAs. At the Academy Awards though, they’ve given nods to Nicholas Britell for ‘Moonlight’ and Thomas Newman for ‘Passengers’. The winner will be revealed when the awards take place in Los Angeles on 26th February.
