It takes two: Parquet Courts and Bun B team up for a new version of ‘Captive Of The Sun’

Parquet Courts and Bun B team up for a new version of ‘Captive Of The Sun’

They’d been plotting the collaboration since appearing on ‘Colbert’ last year.

After hooking up with rapper Bun B for a performance on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ last year, Parquet Courts revealed they’d been plotting a collaboration.

The band’s Austin Brown revealed when talking to Matt Wilkinson on Beats 1 that they’d be releasing a proper 7” single together in February. Well it’s February and yes, they’ve delivered on that promise!

They’ve got together to record a brand new version of ‘Captive of the Sun’, a track from the band’s latest album ‘Human Performance’. It’s the same track they performed on ‘Colbert’ together, but this recorded version sounds even better. Parquet Courts’ slacker intonations and Bun B’s slightly more languid flows simply work like a dream together over the garage-rock licks. Makes you hope they’ve got more collabs in the works.
