Keeping it reel: St Vincent’s new horror flick ‘The Birthday Party’ is a bit ‘out there’

St Vincent’s horror flick ‘The Birthday Party’ is a bit ‘out there’

Her directorial debut features in the upcoming horror anthology XX, and features giant loos and pandas.

St Vincent - not content with just penning her new album - recently made her directorial debut, too, and took the helm on a new horror short for anthology XX. Out in cinemas today, XX features a cast of all-female writers and directors, and includes contributions from the likes of Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound, VHS), Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body), Jennifer Lynch (Chained), and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird).

Annie Clark’s tale for XX is titled The Birthday Party, and by the looks of this new clip, it’s as out there as you’d expect. Featuring a child dressed a shrimp, a giant cuddly panda, and a weepy woman necking the contents of a hip flask, the film also features somebody dressed up as a giant purple loo.

Well, now we know where St Vinny got that toilet costume from, then. Watch the new clip below.
