Premiere: Dead Pretties get scrappy in ‘Social Experiment’ video

Dead Pretties get scrappy in ‘Social Experiment’ video

The Hello 2017 stars have a new clip for their debut single.

When Dead Pretties played DIY’s Hello 2017 series at London’s Old Blue Last back in January, they caused quite a scene. “Dead Pretties are the future of loud, obnoxious, brazen, brilliant bands,” we said on the night. “They’re reminiscent of a more deranged Drenge, hinting at the swagger of Royal Blood and carrying the grunge baton for good measure. In frontman Jacob Slater, they have a genuine star. Three days into 2017 and out steps a band to cherish.”

The band followed up this instant promise with fiery debut track ‘Social Experiment’, and we have the first play of its equally chaotic new video. As scrappy and endearing as the band and track themselves, the Holly Whitaker-helmed clip depicts the antics the band are soon sure to be infamous for.

Talking about the new clip, the band said: ”The video depicts the fine line between the similarity of social aspects in life and predatorial instincts that all life forms on earth carry. We are no different. We are sheep. We are desperate animals blindly following the leader of the pack. In the process of this, we distort our own identity to different degrees in order to feel we have purpose or to simply fit in.”
