Our Girl - aka. the properly ace other band of The Big Moon’s resident shredder Soph Nathan - stormed ahead with their debut EP ‘Normally’ last year, and now the grunge-minded trio are back. This time, it’s with a cover of Ty Segall’s ‘Sad Fuzz’.
“There’s a lovely sun soaked nostalgia to the lyrics, which reminds me of being completely relaxed, lazing woozy on the grass or in bed all day,” explains Soph. ”It somehow manages to have real energy and feel very hazy at the same time - it was so nice to sing, and it felt really freeing to play it together. We didn’t change much, the melody and feel is so good we just had fun with it.”
Our Girl recorded the cover for the March edition of Flying Vinyl, which’ll feature the cover, and EP tracks ‘Being Around’ and ‘No Big Deal,’ on a newly pressed record. Their take on Ty was recorded with Blood Red Shoes’ Steven Ansell, and mixed by their pal The Japanese House.
Have a gander below, and check out their upcoming live dates too.
