Neu Pick: Shaefri burns bright in video for ‘Monster’

Shaefri burns bright in video for ‘Monster’

The intense new clip is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Shaefri.

In her new single, London singer Shaefri is obsessed with anything otherworldly, trying to distinguish humans from monsters. The track’s new video - today’s Neu Pick - magnifies these elements, and it’s a deeply creepy yet thrilling trip through fire-lit labyrinths and castle walls. All pretty dramatic, but it’s a seriousness and intense accompaniment that the track demands - it’s a single that cuts to the heart of human nature (or the lack of it).

‘Monster’ is taken from the singer’s upcoming debut EP ‘Cracks’, out on 7th April. Of the EP, Shaefri says: “All of the tracks talk about the tension of relationships - they all reveal the cracks within a person - myself, an imperfect lover, a friend, someone to whom I gave too much, or someone who wouldn’t love back. Cracks. We all experience them. But they let you see the light too. And this EP is about embracing the light through the cracks, seeing your way with it more clearly.”

The day before the EP’s released, Shaefri is set to play a release show at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club. Watch the new video for ‘Monster’ below.
