Big hugs: Broken Social Scene share new track ‘Hug of Thunder’

Broken Social Scene share new track ‘Hug of Thunder’

Feist takes the lead vocals on the latest cut from their first album in seven years.

Canadian super-collective Broken Social Scene recently announced that they’d be releasing their new album ‘Hug of Thunder’ (their first in six years!) in July.

After already sharing the soaring ‘Halfway Home’, and ahead of a couple of upcoming UK dates in Manchester and London, they’ve lifted the lid on the title track. When announcing the album, the band revealed that Feist would be making an appearance on the LP (after releasing her own comeback album ‘Pleasure’ in May), and here she takes the reins.

She provides the lead vocals on the track, which feels more hushed and introspective than its lead single. With dusty, electronic percussion and fidgety guitar strums, it’s more intimate while still retaining the expansive, atmospheric sound the band have become known for.
