Alpha Maid cut out the crap with ‘Bullshitter’

The South Londoners aren’t messing about in today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Alpha Maid.

South East London racket-makers Alpha Maid have been biding their time for a while, now. We last heard from them when they unleashed frenzied burst of brilliance ‘Sublime’ last year, and they’ve clearly been hanging on to new track ‘Bullshitter’ for good reason. Never mind blowing your socks off, it’s got the sort of mechanical piston-strong punch that leaves you standing totally starkers, and really regretting that really, really exaggerated version of events you told your mates at the party last night.

“Lately, its been so routine,” snarls Leisha Thomas atop a suitably repetitive percussive pulse, “so just tell a story; much better, it looks better, it sounds better.” For a song concerned with the subject of bullshit, ‘Bullshitter’ does an ace job of cutting straight through the crap, and hitting hard.

Alpha Maid are planning to play a bunch of live UK shows in the near future, so keep a look out. We’ve got the first spin of ‘Bullshitter,’ premiering today as DIY’s Neu Pick. Give it a listen.
