Neu Pick: Grace Lightman bares her ‘Fangs’ on new track

Grace Lightman bares her ‘Fangs’ on new track

The singer’s first release on Handsome Dad is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Grace Lightman.

Starting out fronting London-based psych-peddlers The Hypnotic Eye, Grace Lightman has gone on to significantly breezier, purer sounds when striking out solo. ‘Fangs’, her first release on new label Handsome Dad, takes heavy influence from the ’60s, yet there’s a probing mystery behind the track’s floaty vocals.

Appearing as the A-side of a new single alongside ‘Halloween Is Over’, there’s clearly a bloodthirsty attitude to Lightman’s latest twists and turns, and they’re simply irresistible. After all, she talks of an otherworldly alter-ego, the Silver Eater, and it all starts to make sense.

‘Fangs’/’Halloween Is Over’ comes out on Handsome Dad Records. Listen to the first track as today’s Neu Pick below.
