Listen: Sälen share ‘So Rude’

Sälen share ‘So Rude’

The track was premiered by Annie Mac on Radio 1 last night (15th June).

Sälen are back with a new single, and rather predictably, it’s a real dutty. ‘So Rude’ premiered on Radio 1 last night via the returning Annie Mac, and follows recent cut ‘Pretty, Fake’.

The new track comes fresh from sets at The Great Escape and Parklife over the last month, and a summer busy with festival slots.

Talking about the new cut, the band say: “So Rude was written pretty fast. It’s about those relationships that you can’t live with or without, the person annoys you so much but you love them. The middle 8 never seemed right and took us ages to find something. Simon lent Ellie Richard Hell’s autobiography ‘I Dreamed I Was A Very Clean Tramp’ where she found the perfect line that we lifted.”

We recently chatted to the London trio for a Neu feature, talking through their first steps and working towards their upcoming debut album.

“We like to add something to each of the songs,” explains Simon. “On one of our new ones we’ve got whale sounds and for percussion, Ellie is stroking a carpet. Another one has somebody crying all the way through, but at the same time the rest of it kind of fits with pop structures”

The band have also announced a special all-dayer at London’s Ace Hotel on 30th July, with a line-up featuring HAAi (who previously remixed Copper Kiss), Crack Stevens, James Messiah (live) Toast Collective, Olly Rant and Narx from Neverland Clan.
