Monarchy unveil their new single ‘Hula Hoop 8000’

We’ve got the first spin of the UK-based duo’s latest hip-swivelling synth-pop belter.

Get ready to hit the dancefloor because Aussies Ra Black and Andrew Armstrong – better known as UK-based Monarchy – have dropped a new disco banger that’ll have you swivelling your hips in no time.

Their new track ‘Hula Hoop 8000’ is their first on Warner and with mixed by Geoff Swan, who’s also worked with Liam Gallagher, Kasabian and Duran Duran. Built on a steady, pulsating house beat, it layers on swirling, arpeggiated synths that constantly reverberate around the track, gradually building up to a euphoric, futuristic climax.

Ra Black said of the track: “I wrote this song as an escape from reality. I created a fantasy about how someone would feel when they get emotionally and physically engaged with someone that suddenly appears in one’s life. This engagement invokes something as hypnotic as the oscillation of a Hula Hoop”. Prepare to get hypnotised along with them.
