Back in June, Wesley Gonzalez released his debut solo album ‘Excellent Musician’, in which he did indeed prove to be an excellent musician.
Now a couple of months down the line, and Wesley’s been on holiday. Want to know what he got up to? Well, you can find out in his new video for ‘In Amsterdam’, directed by Danny Nellis. And no, it’s not actually set in Amsterdam, but instead it takes place in Ibiza, where Wes hits the beach before hitting the clubs on a lads’ holiday.
Speaking of the video, Wesley said: “We originally planned an entire video set in the countryside. Just as we decided to call it a night we put on an episode of ‘Sun, Sex & Suspicious Parents’ and within 10 minutes of it starting we had booked two flights to Ibiza.
“Neither of us had ever been and the Balearic white sand and brown, oiled bodies terrified us! The first shot we got was of me lying on the Beach singing the song, within seconds a Welsh bloke came up behind me and kicked things off in style, humping my head with his little penis tucked out of his shorts.
“I never went on a Lads holiday, I’ve never been a Lad, but the concept has always fascinated me. No group of men can make me feel more like the scared teenager at school quite like them. We didn’t want to poke fun at something we didn’t understand, but rather explore the possibilities of us trying to fit in - and if they didn’t accept us we just told them we were making a film for Vice, that always works”.
After performing at By The Sea Festival in Margate later this month, Wesley will also be heading off on a UK tour in October. Tickets are on sale now.
