Neu Pick: Hey Charlie are brilliant and carefree on ‘Young & Lonesome’

Hey Charlie are brilliant and carefree on ‘Young & Lonesome’

The trio’s second single is today’s Neu Pick.

London trio Hey Charlie made a promising, polished entrance with debut single ‘Hey’ earlier this year - an unashamed thrash through punk-pop with choruses that seem never-ending.

Its follow-up - ‘Young & Lonesome’ - is today’s Neu Pick, and another slice of perfectly uninhibited, romantic guitar music.

Lyrics of youthful abandon work their way around grunge-indebted power chords and the sweetest of harmonies to make something that’s brilliantly instant.

Speaking about the new track, the band say: “We wrote Young & Lonesome about the conflicting feelings we face as young people of feeling like we’re more free and liberated than ever yet also more lonely as a generation”

The band are set to support All Time Low on their European tour later this year alongside Creeper. Listen to ‘Young & Lonesome’, produced by our fave Tarek Musa of Spring King - below.
