Last year, pop singer Sølv launched her ‘Black Ink’ EP, but she’s kept a bit of a low profile since. As 2017 reaches its end though, she’s back with an intense taste of what to expect from her upcoming ‘Codeine’ EP, which is due on 1st December.
The title track of the collection is a moody, ambient slice that puts Sølv’s own cathartic, emotional vocals. Alongside her sits layers of electronics that drip and flourish when needed but remain minimal at other times for a dramatic, intense effect. It’s a testament to the fact that sometimes less is more, gripping the listener with its distinctive take on alt-pop.
Speaking about the track, Sølv said: “’Codeine’ is about the best kind of addiction - it stems from having a complete connection with someone to such a degree that they literally become your pain relief from past hurt, as you reflect back to a lonelier time and wonder how you coped without them”.
