Headclouds bring the fuzz on ‘Seen It Before’

The Newcastle band’s summery new one is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Headclouds.

It’s November, and that means that, if you’re living in most parts of the northern hemisphere at least, things might be getting just a bit bitingly cold around the fingertips. Summer now seems like quite some time away, but there’s a solution to warm yourself as the days draw ever shorter. Get a dose of sunshine pop.

So enter Headclouds, the Newcastle-based five-piece who emerged back in August with their single ‘Flowers’, a distillation of sparkling melodies and euphoric harmonies that suited some of the last days of real British warmth. Now they’re back with their latest single, and it’s just as shimmering as you’d want it to be.

‘Seen It Before’ is an injection of pure, fuzz-filled vitality, a heady combination of lilting, laid-back jangly guitar melodies and crunchier melodies with dynamic, quick-fire drops and even a squalling solo. Throw into the mix hazy “woah-oh” moments that just beg to be sung along to, and Headclouds are more than ready to set you into a summery spin again.
