Going, going, gong: Mabel, Jorja Smith and Stefflon Don nominated for Brits’ Critics’ Choice shortlist 2018

Mabel, Jorja Smith and Stefflon Don nominated for Brits’ Critics’ Choice shortlist 2018

It’s a very decent shortlist indeed, actually.

The nominations for this year’s Brit Awards Critics’ Choice shortlist are out, with Mabel, Jorja Smith and Stefflon Don up for the 2018 prize.

Counting Dizzee Rascal and Stormzy as fans, Jorja Smith featured in DIY’s Class of 2017, and has already had a busy year collaborating with Kali Uchis and putting in a stellar performance on Jools Holland. Read the DIY interview with her here.

Mabel - another solid DIY fave - scored her first ever top 10 single this year. We profiled her last year. And Birmingham’s Stefflon Don (who has also had her own top 10 single this year, and is set to play Eurosonic 2018) has also recieved a nod in the very decent indeed shortlist.

Last year’s 2016 Critics’ Choice award was won by Radgy Boner Man, so really, the only way is up.
