Feeling festive: Thyla have covered The Waitresses’ ‘Christmas Wrapping’

Thyla have covered The Waitresses’ ‘Christmas Wrapping’

The Brightonians are getting into the festive spirit.

Last week, Brightonians Thyla returned with their brand new single ‘Tell Each Other Lies’, another euphoric slice from the group that confronted “pretending everything’s dandy and skipping through life suppressing how you really feel for the sake of an easy ride”.

But as it’s now December, it’s difficult to suppress some overall festive cheer and Thyla aren’t immune to the Christmas spirit either. They’ve now revealed a cover of The Waitresses’ holiday classic ‘Christmas Wrapping’ and it’s a pretty faithful rendition of the tune. It’s filled with exuberance and a spirited turn from vocalist Millie Duthie simply puts the holly on the Christmas pudding.

Speaking of the cover, the band say: “A lot of our music is inspired by the post punk/new wave era. The original song is Millie’s favourite Christmas tune so we thought it would be cool to get in the festive spirit and do a cheeky cover. We recorded it ourselves in Mitch’s shed so we’re pretty chuffed with the results”.
