Neu Pick: Breathe Panel share driving new track ‘Relax’

Breathe Panel share driving new track ‘Relax’

The Brighton-based four-piece’s anthemic new one is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Breathe Panel

After making a powerful introduction with the likes of ‘On My Way’ and sharing stages with the likes of The Big Moon and Honeyblood in recent times, Brighton-based four-piece Breathe Panel are back.

Combining elements of shoegaze, garage-rock and psychedelia, ‘Relax’ sees vocalist Nick Green gliding across a shimmering, jangly get direct and urgent guitar melodies with motorik drum beats. It’s a strident, soaring return from the band that pushes their lo-fi sound into anthemic territory in effortless style.

Speaking of the track, the band say: “’Relax’ is a monotonous ode to being held inside your own head with anxiety, with brief flourishes and a song title to celebrate moments of sheer joy or unexpected daily beauty”. It may be about the claustrophobia of anxiety, but here Breathe Panel are showing supreme confidence.
