Last month Preoccupations announced that they’d be releasing their new album, the very aptly titled ‘New Material’, on 23rd March.
After sharing ‘Espionage’ at the time, they’ve now got a video for new cut ‘Antidote’. It’s been co-directed by band member Michael Wallace alongside Evan Pearce and depicts the band playing. Okay there’s more to it than that. It’s actually a hypnotic dive into monochrome territory, which also includes some pretty psychedelic imagery too.
As reported by Stereogum, Matt Flegel said: ““Antidote” is about humans forgetting that we’re apes, it’s about trying to make sense out of something that we’d be better off not trying to make sense of. Its about having infinite knowledge at our fingertips, but still making all the wrong choices over and over. It’s about trying to find a moment in your day where you can take a breath and remember that we’re basically all just animals bumbling around”.
Preoccupations are also set to head off on a European tour in June and July, which kicks off with a date at London’s Village Underground and includes a date at Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club. Tickets are on sale now.
