Two years on from the release of ‘New View’, Eleanor Friedberger is back with details of a new album.
‘Rebound’ is out on 4th May through Frenchkiss Records and was mostly recorded alone by Eleanor with assistance from producer Clemens Knieper. It sees her going in a bit of a new direction, swapping live instruments for electronic drums, synthesisers and more muted guitars. It also takes inspiration from her time spent in Greece, immersing herself in the culture.
Eleanor said in a statement: “After a month in Athens I asked my friend, the Greek musician Σtella, ‘What’s one thing I have to do before I leave?’ After some long and careful consideration she smiled and said, ‘you have to go to Rebound. It’s a time warp; kind of an 80s goth disco where everyone does the chicken dance; you’ll love it… but it’s only open on Saturdays after 3:00 AM’.”
As well as announcing the album, Eleanor’s also shared new track ‘In Between Stars’, which shows off that new direction she’s taken on the record.
