Ooh! Alex Turner says a new Arctic Monkeys single is coming “soon”

He told a fan about the progress of new material.

With Arctic Monkeys set to hit the road again this year, the band’s follow-up to ‘AM’ is expected this year.

Nick O’Malley revealed back in September that a new Arctics album would be dropping sometime in 2018, and now Alex Turner’s given a bit of an informal update on the new music. Fan William Hann bumped into Alex yesterday, and said that: “he gave nothing away about UK dates and said the single would be ‘soon’.” How soon? That’s not too clear unfortunately, but new material is looking closer by the day. Alex’s remarks don’t shed any light on whether the band will be playing a series of massive homecoming shows in Sheffield later this year either.

The band have just announced a run of dates in Europe (with none in the UK as of yet, except for their appearance at TRSNMT festival in Glasgow). They are set to head to just about every European festival this year too, including Open’er, Primavera and Mad Cool

Have a look at William’s tweet below (and yep, Alex still has that beard too).
