Beach Slang’s James Alex announces debut Quiet Slang album ‘Everything Matters But No One Is Listening’

He’s also shared a video for ‘Dirty Cigarettes’.

Last summer, Beach Slang vocalist James Alex announced that he’d been performing solo under the name Quiet Slang and released a brand new EP of the band’s tracks, called ‘We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags’.

A few months down the line, he’s now announced the debut full-length from Quiet Slang. ‘Everything Matters But No One Is Listening’ is due out on 18th May through Big Scary Monsters. As his moniker implies, it’ll see him swapping raucous guitars for something a little more tempered, favouring cello, piano and his own voice.

As well as announcing the album, James has also shared a new video for ‘Dirty Cigarettes’, which features Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds and Heather McIntosh of Elephant 6. He says that the clip “was filmed in an empty church reception hall the day after a wedding—a strange mix of love and loneliness. Something about that felt right. And for an afternoon, I felt”.
