Crewel Intentions share theatrical, nostalgic debut ‘Youth In Overload’

It’s the first offering from former Palma Violet Chilli Jesson’s new project.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Crewel Intentions.

Keen-eyed followers of sadly now defunct South London indie tearaways Palma Violets’ Facebook page will have noticed some new activity bubbling away in past weeks. After a period out of the spotlight and a series of low-key London shows, former bassist Chilli Jesson has now fully unveiled his new project Crewel Intentions and it’s a vehicle for him to finally step into the spotlight that he’s always naturally commanded anyway.

Now, the band have revealed debut single ‘Youth In Overload’.

A flamboyant, theatrical affair featuring sweeping, dramatic crescendoes and sentimental reflections on lost years, it’s accompanied by a suitably grainy, nostalgia-tinged video. Judging by Chilli’s extravagant flailing, looks like time away hasn’t dampened his onstage antics.
