Phoenix issue apology for working with R Kelly

The R&B star’s alleged abuses feature in a new documentary.

Phoenix are the latest act to react to the allegations detailed in documentary series Surviving R Kelly, issuing an apology for working with the singer.

“We are deeply horrified by the stories of abuse surrounding R. Kelly,” they say. “We regret that we were not both more informed and more discerning when we worked with him previously.”

R Kelly appeared on a remix of the band’s ‘Trying To Be Cool’, and guested with them at Coachella in 2013.

The documentary is the widest airing yet of the allegations of sexual and physical abuse towards women, predatory behaviour and paedophilia by the singer.

Lady Gaga also issued an apology this week, asking that her track ‘Do What U Want (With My Body)’ be removed from all streaming services.
