Alt-pop duo Jadu Heart mine the dark side of love on glitchy, atmospheric ‘Purity’

Complete with a blood-soaked new video, today’s Neu Pick is a real doozy.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Jadu Heart.

Alt-pop duo Jadu Heart mine the dark sides of love and passion on new single ‘Purity’, today’s Neu Pick.

Despite this, the track starts fairly harmoniously, with smooth vocals gliding over warm, rich plucks of acoustic guitar. It all turns on a sixpence after a minute and a half though, with reverb-drenched guitars reminiscent of The xx gliding their way in over a glitchy beat.

Teamed with an atmospheric video that sees two masked figures dancing with intensity before ending up covered in something distinctly blood-like, it’s a real treat for the senses, this one.

”[‘Purity’] is about the conflicts that arise between two people as they become closer. The dark side of love, intense and devastating at its low points, only becomes more beautiful and sacred as you push through,” they say of the track.

The make-up of Jadu Heart goes hand in hand with the development of two other-worldly characters who have become the band’s alter-egos, which transform and develop across each of the band’s releases.”

They were teenagers when they got cursed,” says Diva, “and now they’re settling a little bit.”

Well then! Watch the excellent ‘Purity’ below.

The band are set to play two April shows, coming to Manchester’s YES on the 24th, and London’s Bussey Building the following night.
