Mystery Jets postpone new album release and tour as singer Blaine Harrison undergoes emergency surgery

Harrison penned a lengthy statement from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Blaine Harrison of Mystery Jets has released a statement in which he informs fans of the indie favourites that their new album and tour is to be delayed.

The band were due to play a series of instore shows throughout September and October before a November UK tour.

They’ll now take place in 2020, and the release of new album ‘A Billion Heartbeats’, originally planned for 27th September, will also be pushed back to next year.

The frontman will undergo emergency surgery to halt an infection close to his bone from spreading around his body.

“As some will know, I was struck down at the beginning of the summer under similar circumstances,” he said. “Upon my release, I made a plan to charge on with our summer shows as well as instores around the album release and go in for follow-up surgery straight off the back of the November tour.

“In retrospect, perhaps I hadn’t taken into account how demanding the past couple of months would be on my body. This industry is not one that runs from 9-5, and as anyone trying to get their art out in to the world will know, when it’s your baby, it is all-consuming and takes all that you’ve got.”

Two singles from the album had already been released, ‘Screwdriver’ and ‘History Has Its Eyes On You’.
