Daughter Announce Debut Album, ‘If You Leave’

The full-length follows on from EPs ‘His Young Heart’ and ‘The Wild Youth’, and single ‘Smother’.

Recent 4AD signings, Daughter have announced details for their debut album: ‘If You Leave’ will be released through the label on 18th March. The full-length was recorded last year both at home and in ‘various spaces’ across London, and follows on from EPs ‘His Young Heart’ and ‘The Wild Youth’, and single ‘Smother’, which you can watch the video for below.

DIY spoke to Elena Tonra a little under a year ago about her band’s first forays into music: ‘It was a really basic process and even a bit shambolic at times, you know we would gaffer tape things together and figure it out as we went along. We didn’t think anyone would ever listen to us.’

They’ve come a long way, with this latest effort boasting production duties from not only the band’s Igor Haefeli, but Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, Adele) and Jolyon Vaughan Thomas (Maps). It was mixed by Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, M83) at High Bank Studio and mastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road Studios.

The full tracklisting is as follows:

1. Winter
2. Smother
3. Youth
4. Still
5. Lifeforms
6. Tomorrow
7. Human
8. Touch
9. Amsterdam
10. Shallows
