Dexter Fletcher’s Wild Bill

The actor makes his directorial debut with the touching drama.

The first trailer for Dexter Fletcher’s directorial debut Wild Bill has been released.

We caught the film at last year’s London Film Festival and loved it - read our review here.

Fletcher stays behind the camera for the drama, which he scripted with Danny King (Thieves Like Us). It’s Charlie Creed-Miles in the title role of the once violent ex-con who emerges from a stretch in prison to find his two young sons have been fending for themselves. Will Poulter (Son of Rambow, The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader) is the fiercely independent 15-year-old working illegally on the east London Olympic site to support his 11-year-old brother (Sammy Williams) after their mother ran out.

Despite touches of the gangster thriller, with the bad guy trying to make good scenario, Wild Bill is more a touching father-and-son drama with superb, warm and funny performances. Andy Serkis, Olivia Williams, Iwan Rheon, Neil Maskell and Jaime Winstone lend a bit of star power to Fletcher’s finely filmed labour of love.

Wild Bill is in cinemas from 30th March. Keep up to date with the Facebook and Twitter links.
