Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez For Evil Dead Remake

Leads cast in Fede Alvarez’s installment of Sam Raimi’s franchise.

The week after Lily Collins (thankfully) quit the remake of The Evil Dead, the lead character of Mia has now been cast.

Deadline reveal Jane Levy has landed the coveted role as the film’s new heroine (effectively replacing Bruce Campbell’s iconic Ash), a young woman recovering from a drug overdose. Fede Alvarez’s film has the blessing of both Campbell and franchise creator Sam Raimi, and will follow a group of friends who head to the woods and awaken evil in a remote cabin.

The news comes the day after Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) was cast as one of the gang. Up and coming actress Levy is known for her role as Mandy in the US version of Shameless and is currently starring in the TV series Suburgatory. She will be seen in Fun Size, the debut film feature from The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz.

The Evil Dead is set for an April 2013 release.
