The cast of Lovelace has filled out, with a host of new names joining the Amanda Seyfried-starring biopic of porn star Linda Lovelace.
Variety report four actors have joined Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s film, and that James Franco may play Hugh Hefner.
Hank Azaria is to play Jerry Damiano, director of the infamous Deep Throat, while Bobby Cannavale and Chris Noth will play the movie’s financiers Butchie Peraino and Anthony Romano. Robert Patrick joins as Linda’s father, after Sharon Stone was confirmed as the eventual anti-porn campaigner’s mother.
Franco, who starred in Epstein and Friedman’s arty account of Allen Ginsberg’s obscenity trial Howl earlier this year, would only have a small role as Hefner, for when Deep Throat is screened at the Playboy mansion. The actor was originally eyed for the role of Linda’s abusive husband and pimp Chuck Traynor, a role that went to Peter Sarsgaard. Juno Temple and Wes Bentley were recently announced for the film, which began shooting in LA this week.
Voice star Azaria was last seen on camera in Love and Other Drugs, while Sex and the City’s Noth has been kept busy with The Good Wife and the forthcoming series Titanic: Blood and Steel. Terminator 2 star Patrick is currently shooting Gangster Squad with Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn. The Station Agent star Cannavale recently reunited with director Thomas McCarthy to steal every scene in Win Win.
