Paranormal Activity 2 director Tod ‘Kip’ Williams is to adapt Christopher Buehlman’s horror novel Those Across The River.
Deadline report that producer Mike Medavoy (Black Swan, Shutter Island) optioned the book, from which Williams will adapt the screenplay and direct.
Buehlman’s novel, published in September, is set in a small Southern town in Georgia in 1935, in which a WWI veteran and his wife inherit a home. Settling down to write a book about his evil plantation owning grandfather, he becomes aware of the town’s strange monthly ritual of sending two pigs across the river to an unknown fate. When the practice is stopped for financial reasons, the locals become targets.
Before successfully taking over the Paranormal Activity sequel from Oren Peli, steering the franchise to a third film in the hands of Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, Williams directed The Door in the Floor and The Adventures of Sebastian Cole.
