DIY doesn’t often read the back of press notes given to us before film screenings, as we know all about the actors, thanks very much.
So we didn’t realise that we had been sitting on a little nugget of Dark Knight Rises casting news since yesterday’s screening of the ace Wrath of the Titans (review here).
Warner Bros’ press notes have this to say about Liam Neeson:
Neeson next appears in Peter Berg’s actioner ‘Battleship,’ and he also will be seen in Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated action thriller ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’
Neeson’s casting in Nolan’s third and final Batman film had long been rumoured since the actor was spotted on, and subsequently confirmed his visit to, the film set. However, he was never mentioned in any Dark Knight Rises press releases. Neeson played Ra’s Al Ghu in Batman Begins, and his character was killed by Christian Bale’s Batman. Josh Pence, whose face was replaced by Armie Hammer as one half of the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network, is known to be playing the young Ghul in TDKR.
Thanks to ComingSoon for noticing, and getting us to dig the notes out.
The Dark Knight Rises also stars Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard, and is released on 20th July. Remind yourself of the trailer below.
