Competition: Closed: Win Gruff Rhys ‘American Interior’ deluxe box set
One lucky winner will get a copy of Gryff Rhys’ new box set.
Limited to just 500 copies, the new ‘American Interior’ deluxe box set is a treasure trove of exclusive Gruff Rhys music and visuals. It features brand new Pete Fowler artwork and songs unavailable anywhere else, across vinyl, CD and print.
The album tells the true story of John Evans, a twenty-two-year-old farmhand from Snowdonia, Wales, who travelled to America in search of a Welsh-speaking Native American tribe - The Madogwys - still walking the Great Plains.
“It was a story that’s been in the family for a very long time,” Gruff explains. “He was a pretty serious guy so I hope I’m not destroying his legacy by depicting him as a three-foot high felt avatar. His adventure was very real so I do feel a sense of responsibility!
“There is an element of tragicomedy involved as well and it’s a story I’d like to think was possible. It’s almost an incredible story in a way, because it’s so unusual. I like the idea that there will be some people that might think the whole thing’s just been made up.”
DIY has a copy of the box set to give away to one lucky reader. To be in with a chance of winning, simply sign up to DIY’s mailing list, follow us on Twitter or Facebook, or send us a tweet using the form below. The closing date for entries is Thursday 31st July.
