Royal Blood, Jungle, FKA twigs nominated for Mercury Prize 2014

The twelve Albums of the Year are being awarded at a ceremony in The Hospital Club, Covent Garden.

Royal Blood, FKA twigs and Jungle are the standout names in the list of of twelve albums announced for this year’s Mercury Prize.

2014’s Albums of the Year were listed in a ceremony hosted by Alice Levine at The Hospital Club in London’s Covent Garden.

Chart-toppers Royal Blood are in there with their self-titled album, with East India Youth’s ‘Total Strife Forever’, FKA twigs’ ‘LP1’ and Jungle’s self-titled album also in the running.

Damon Albarn, Nick Mulvey and Bombay Bicycle Club have also been given nods, alongside the lesser known Go Go Penguin.

DIY’s provided a guide on the albums we’d like to see nominated, including Chvrches and Jungle.

The final winner will be announced at London Roundhouse on 29th October. Royal Blood and Damon Albarn are the early favourites with odds of 4/1.
