Ring ring ring: De La Soul’s new Kickstarter-funded album set to feature David Byrne, Damon Albarn and Little Dragon

“Finally we’ve got what we need to make the best De La Soul record ever,” says Trugoy. They’re aiming to raise $110,000.
Hip-hop legends De La Soul have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a new album. The campaign aims to raise $110,000, and if they’re successful, this will be the group’s eighth album. It’d also be their first since ‘The Grind Date’, which came out in 2004.
There are plenty of incentives for would-be sponsors. The list of artists set to feature on the record includes Damon Albarn, David Byrne, Little Dragon, and 2 Chainz. The rewards that De La Soul are offering are pretty tempting as well. If you fancy going toy shopping with Dave, recording skits in the studio, or owning one of the group’s ‘personal boomboxes’ this could be the chance that you’ve been waiting for.
“So far, we’ve got over 200 hours of tape—we’ve been recording this music for years and finally we’ve got what we need to make the best De La Soul record ever,” said Trugoy, aka. Dave Jude Jolicoeur. Well, there you go then.
