Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry calls out evil, misogynistic online trolls online

“Bring it on, motherfuckers”, she says, addressing disgusting social posts.

Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry has confronted the darkest corner of the internet head-on, in a post calling out “motherfuckers” who spite hateful, misogynistic comments online.

Responding to a comment on Instagram (which we won’t post here, because honestly, it’s out-right disgusting and not worthy of anyone’s time), Mayberry backed up a stance that’s she had since the early Chvrches days - to not take anyone’s shit.

“My band is lucky enough to have some of the most awesome, supportive and respectful fans in the world and we are so excited to be in the studio making an album to share with them,” she stated. “Yet, on a daily basis, we still receive communications like this. These people never learn that violence against women is unacceptable. But they also never learn that women will not be shamed and silenced and made to disappear. I am not going anywhere. So bring it on, motherfuckers. Let’s see who blinks first.”

This isn’t the first time Mayberry’s called out online hate. She penned an opinion piece on The Guardian back in 2013, which picked up substantial support.
