He’s confirmed that his involvement only extends to playing live.

Underoath drummer Aaron Gillespie has clarified the nature of his new role in Paramore. Hayley Williams’ band has undergone several big line-up changes in the last few years, the most recent being bassist Jeremy Davis leaving the band.

Following the departure of Paramore’s founding drummer Zac Farro way back in 2010, Aaron Gillespie later became Paramore’s touring drummer. After Paramore broughr Nine Inch Nails’ Ilan Rubin as a session drummer for their last self-titled album’ many fans speculated that Aaron Gillespie might become a fully-fledged member of Paramore, writing with the band as well as performing. However, in the latest episode of Silverstein frontman Shane Told’s podcast,Lead Singer Syndrome, Gillespie has clarified that his role will remain live only.

“They’re amazing people,” he said. “It’s an honor to get to play with them. It’s something that’s super challenging because of their stature, and because you want to be great for something like that,” he added.

At the very beginning of this year, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams confirmed that work had begun on their new album.
