Diplo, Fatboy Slim and Carl Cox are the latest acts to be added to an already bulging Bestival line-up. What’s more, they’re headlining the festival’s newest stage, an imposing technological creation known as The Spaceport.
Described as a “colossal cosmodrome”, the seven-story rave space-cum-stage, which acts as an intergalactic replacement for the HMS Bestival, will “beam out music day and night, lit by lasers with giant astronauts floating across the sky” (far out, man) and feature a state-of-the-art sound system as well as lighting design from noted lighting technician Paul Normandale.
Back down on Earth, Diplo’s Major Lazer will headline the festival’s main stage on Friday night with The Cure ending proceedings on the Saturday. The remaining main stage headliner is yet to be announced.
Other artists confirmed to play are Hot Chip, Animal Collective, Wolf Alice, Tourist Ride, Skepta, Years & Years, Aurora, Bastille, Beaty Heart, Benjamin Damage, Bicep, The Black Madonna, Bodhi presents ROOTS, Caravan Palace, Craig David’s TS5, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, plus sets from Elf Kid, Ghostpoet, Wiley, Big Narstie, Katy B, Jagwar Ma, Loyle Carner, MØ and The Human League.
