Abattoir Blues step up to the chase with ‘Tell Me’

Brighton group’s latest thud lands ahead of dates with Wolf Alice and Nai Harvest.

Stars of this year’s Hello 2016 gigs, Brighton five-piece Abattoir Blues have existed under the radar for too long. The Harry Waugh-led force make bold, attention-swerving garage rock that demands respect, built from the angry punk frustrations of Eagulls and spun into an exciting new form.

New song ‘Tell Me’ arrives in perfect time, just ahead of a show with Wolf Alice and a full UK tour with Nai Harvest. Waugh’s given space to chant, here, using a sparse first half to set the agenda. The rest of the group stamp their trade in a vicious closing half, bending distortion into strange shapes before going in for the kill. Abrasive, absolutely, but Abattoir Blues somehow find a divine melody within a grimy undercurrent.

DIY has the first play of ‘Tell Me’ - listen below upcoming tour dates.
