‘Mountain Game’ was written back in 2010 and was intended to form a part of the game’s soundtrack, but the studio declined to use it. At first that seems a bit odd, as the track definitely feels like it’d be right at home on the range, its gentle acoustic guitar and field recordings of birds creating an ambient vibe. Then pretty much out of nowhere, a drum machine and synth come in. Yeah, maybe not the best fit for a gun-slinging western set in the early 1900s, but it wouldn’t have sounded out of place on ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion.’
